Good imported beer is about $5-$6 a six pack here. Need I say more.
There's also more alcohol available at the Safeway alone than most Australian bottle shops. Loads of Aussie wine as well.

First of all: I HATE BLOGS. They are the height of modern day egotism - actually believing that strangers out there may actually give a fuck about what you say or do.
The purpose of this blog is to share my travels relieving me from the need to send postcards. (yes a selfish motivation triggered by laziness) My day to day life is not for display.

This has nothing to do with anything. Was the "Odd spot" in The Age today and I just found it piss funny. Threats by animal rights activists to firebomb an inn in Worcestershire until it took squirrel pate off the menu have perplexed the owners. "In the past we've sold meat from fluffy little lambs and it's not been a problem," a spokesman said.
I can tell you're new to this by the "good beer = $6" line.
Yes, that's good beer by Australian standards, but once you've been here a while your standards lift.
Better beer is $12 and up - and I'm talking high end Belgians and such that you need to take out a mortgage to get back in Aus.
Have a look for Dogfish Head Worldwide Stout. 21% and tastes great.
