Dairy: They just don't get it (Things that suck about America #2)

The dairy section of the supermarket is amazingly small. I thought I couldn't find the rest at first. American's grow their cows by feeding them a growth hormone called rBST which makes them produce about three times as much milk as a natural cow. This stuff has basically been proven to cause cancer but of course the American farm lobby is so powerful they can't ban it. They actually have to PAY farmers compensation not to use it. My Trader Joes milk was free of it, but of course it is so modified (reduced fat etc) that it is still not real. Bought some yogurt at Albertsons. This so-called yogurt is like liquid plastic. I could easily be convinced there is no milk in here at all. Everyone uses either whitener powder or UHT type milk shots in their coffee. Butter is white (at least the stuff I bought) and the cheese is deep orange. Cream is very hard find and comes in little milk cartons. I think that'll do about milk products.

LOL.
You summed it up beautifully.

And you can laugh because you know you're going back to a place with decent food soon enough.

Yanks don't care because they don't realise (most of) their food is about as bad going in as coming back out.
Being fair - you can get some good stuff, but you have to look damn hard.
