I have no idea what you call it when the Referee drops the puck in between the two players but thats what this is.

First of all: I HATE BLOGS. They are the height of modern day egotism - actually believing that strangers out there may actually give a fuck about what you say or do.

What you are looking at is called a "face off", and when the ref drops the puck it is called "dropping the puck".
