NASA
After Stanford I dropped into Ames Research Facility at Moffet Field next to the Airforce Base. The visitor centre was housed only in a building best described as a circus tent. I was a little disappointed in NASA, thought they would put more into it. The only thing worth seeing was the huge video screen display and the awesome 3d videos they showed about the Martian rovers.
Stanford
Wanted to do some shopping Saturday so I headed to Stanford Mall which was right next to Stanford University. Later found out that my Lonely Planet guide to California described this mall as "Best Avoided". It was full of middle-of-the-road department stores and was quite depressing. Got some cheap sunglasses though in Macy's.
Then I went into Stanford Uni as this had been recommended to me. VERY nice place. Nice sandstone type architecture and the gold chapel was great. Way too big to see much of but I got some good photos. There were squirrels everywhere. I've seen quite a few squirrels around. They seem to be fairly smart as I've only ever seen one squished on the road.
For the first time achieved small things such as getting fuel and cash.
